Elevating roof cable.

Post by mikelamb » Tue Nov 15, 2011 8:37 pm

Hi All,
Not been on here for a while due to My van still being in the garage having work done on the engine. Anyway firstly I hope your all well and that all the familiar names are going strong! ( and new!) I have sort of moved on from the Bongo as its been so long (Citroen Berlingo :? !)but spoke to the garage today and was suprised to hear all is well with the old girl. One problem though, the roof cable has snapped on the passenger side and it will not lower all of the way. Can these be picked up anywhere or has anyone done a repair ? Now that I have heard that the engine is doing well I would love to get her back on the road, Any help is greatly appreciated,
Mike.

Sounds like the teleflex cable (worm-drive) from the motors has failed. Seems a bit strange that the garage needed to operate the roof while repairing the engine :?

The roof had failed before the van went back to the garage in fairness. Is the teleflex cable available to buy from anywhere ?

Try Kevin at Southern Bongos. He has several vans in for breaking and one looks like he has made a start stripping the roof. His number is 023 8073 3995. Mention Simon recommended him

Adrian at Japan Direct in Bury has had a fair bit of experience at fixing busted AFT roof mechanisms and would be worth calling for advice. Great guy and v helpful. Good luck.
