Stiff side door

Post by Paddyross » Sat Nov 12, 2011 12:57 am

Hi everyone,

I've recently taken proud ownership of my first bongo and love it, I've only had her a couple of weeks now and already she's a member of the family (can't get the kids out of it!!!!). I seem to have developed a slight problem, or rather noticed after purchase with the side door, the soft close mechanism works as it should but whenever I come to open the door it's really stiff, but if I move it a couple of inches back towards the close position and the retry opening its really smooth, and if it's moved back and forth without closing again it remains smooth. Can anybody point me in the right direction of my problem.

I remember having that for a while with my first one

I think it was a sticky hinge on the runner mechanism try cleaning the runnersand spraying with grease or wd40 especialy the hinged bit

Thanks for your advice, I cleaned the runner out with some muck off motorcycle degreaser and used the same brands chain lube as its a dry one, result is one smooth and free sliding door. I always think worst and it normaly ends up being something simple. Thanks again.
