Coolant hose part number for V6

Post by Glenda » Tue Nov 08, 2011 7:33 pm

Our V6 has coolant leaking from hose under drivers seat from cylinder block between starter motor and exhaust manifold its an S shaped hose and connects to steel pipe under chasis feeding rear and front heater?????? These are not my words! As engine heats there is a lovely fine spray that drips back down.

Now I have read the posts and asked for help but still do not know what part number it is (plus clamps) or where to get it. Also are V6 hoses same as diesel?

I have looked at the schematics and they are as clear as when I read Japanese script (except I can see which is forward and therefore drivers side but nothing else). :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

I have a VW fanatic friend who will fit the hose if I can get it so PLEASE help despite this.............. [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o<

Dont feel sorry though as I am trying to get it fixed before 4 weeks in the cool winter temperatures of a nepalese trek followed by 4 weeks recuperation in the steamy heat of Thailand and Cambodia. Just worried about lack of antifreeze in coolant system if we have a repeat of last winters weather whilst away.

Remember that the V6 is the same as the diesel in respect that the coolant MUST be bled as per instructions after messing with hoses etc.....fail to get this right and you are looking at a super expensive bill.....your VW mate probably won't know how to do it....download the bleeding factsheet and see the YouTube vids "bleeding bongos" part 1,2 & 3

Don't drive it until you have fixed it.....don't be tempted to just top up the header tank

Thanks for your bleeding advice. My last coolant leak 3 years ago was in Dieppe and euroassistance garage failed to bleed the system (almost 2 litres short). I spent 24 hours on the internet using Bongofury advice before continuing succesfully on to 4 weeks Bongoing in Crete. VW man WILL be told, if I can get the bleeding hose!

It might be 62-213 Hose no. 3 ? on this diagram http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html
Its the only "S" shaped one I can spot .... perhaps show the diagram to who ever spoke the words ;-)

I think the hose is 61-213 Geoff, and the clips 99286-2200P (x2).

Thanks widdowson2008 and g8dhe. The schematics look clearer now. I notice the letters indicate a second larger picture. So Z is looking at the area. Going on what you have said I guess Geoff has a typo and I will go for 61-213 with corresponding clips. It looks about right.

THANKS for help will let you know how the man who speaks the words gets on with it.

Very, very rare that Geof gets it wrong. He was probably just testing to see if folk were awake.

Same hose as the diesel.

Right. Been to Mazda spares in Portslade which is only 2 minutes from my new home. They said it was another hose 61-211A. I think you boys are right so have ordered 61-213. Its coming tomorrow morning and will know immediately if right or not. It is indeed that part number.

What does confuse me is the schematics show 61-213 as 3 different shapes. twice in the boxes on left and another shape in the middle?????????????????? Now I dont really care if I get my hose tomorrow but thought some of you maybe interested.

Fingers crossed and =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Its listed as three variations depending on the vehicle type 2.0l, 2.5l V6, Diesel the translation in the table was never completed for the last row;
Image
If you look at the last column you can see its >2000 or >2500 or diesel

I must say 61-211 is also a possibility it sort of depends what "S" shape means! and whats on the diagram and what it looks like in reality can vary :?

Thanks job done it was indeed the correct hose and at a price of only £14 inc VAT. That's almost half the price of the coolant!

VW man was unaware of bleeding but is now. Just what mates are for.

Now for 2 months in the Himalayas, then a beach in Thailand and a trip round Cambodia. See you in the New Year. :D :D :D

Just be sure the bleeding is done properly cos the Himalayas is definitely not the place you need a cock-up. Not too many Bongos there.

Have a brilliant time.
