what's my bodykit? (cos someone broke it)

Post by martbox » Sun Oct 09, 2011 11:56 pm

I've only had it a month and already someone's shunted my bongo (1999 V6 silver new shape freda) and pushed me into another car, so now I have broken front & rear bumbers and a bent tailgate that won't open  .
Image
Their insurance company got my van to a repair shop the next day but said if they couldn't get replacement parts it would be a write off
Now I'm assuming they can get a new tailgate from Mazda for a few hundred quid (and probably a long wait) but I'm worried they'll struggle with the bumpers, they don't look like normal aero kit to me, and the chargespeed ones I found on the internet don't seem to match either.
I told the repair guy about Bell Hill Garage since they seem to be the main place for bongo bodykit, but does anyone have/recognise this kit at all? (see below) Is it likely to be possible/economical to replace?

I've seen that kit once or twice before, but i don't know the name of the manufacturing company i'm afraid... I reckon it'd be cheaper to get the fibrglass bumper repaired than to buy a new skirt  A decent bodyshop experienced in glass fibre repairs should be able to sort that out quite easily [-o<

That's because half of the time the car behind is trying to see past to overtake "an old campervan" It wouldn't matter if you were doing 100MPH in a bongo...some numpty would still be up your chuff looking for an opportunity to overtake

Indeed, I was barely moving at the time as well. Thankfully the chap who hit me was apologetic, cooperative and insured :)
The garage have now decided they'll repair the bumpers as they can't get replacements ("American Monster" apparently) So only another few days of clunky gear changing in the hired Zafira!

Ouch! Looks like a tree pounced on your Bongo! Hope you got a good repair done. (replacement or repaired bumper btw?) I'm hoping mine will be done this week. It feels like I've been bongoless for a couple of months but its only been a couple of weeks!

The Bongo is back! It's a great repair job and the bumper feels stronger and more firmly attached than before :)
