Which type of ATF fluid to use

Post by apole » Thu May 05, 2011 3:22 pm

Hi guys,

Want to get my ATF fluid changed, some confusion over what fluid to use. Manual says ATF III but others have told me ATF II is the best.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I've recently used Millermatic dexron 3 with great results :D If you decide to go for that product, do a search for "falcon peregrine" brand... It's millermatic D3 in trade packaging (about 30% cheaper)

Thanks.

Due to tight timescales I will go for this as I can pick it up locally:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... zone=PLPz1

It says it's Dexron III standard so I take it that's the puppy !!

Thanks guys, appreciate your help.

At the moment, GSF Car Parts do 4.5L CarLube ATF-Q3 Dexron III on eBay - 21 quid, free postage, next day if you time the order right. Courier even emailed me with a 1 hour window for delivery! I've ordered twice now, very convenient and very fast.

Best not to risk going against the recommendations, 'specially not with the (expensive) autobox. Worth knowing what's in the factsheet in the member's area, too, if you haven't already read it.

Big up for GSF! ;)

Given your experience, two questions:
- do you reckon CarLube ATF-Q3 Dexron III a good choice?
- is 21 quid for 4.5L (delivered) a good deal? (bearing in mind I needed to get 2 to do the job)

I reckoned it wasn't bad... interesting to hear another opinion, though.
