Hi Everyone
My Ford Freda has just had it's annual MOT and service, I had new heater plugs put it and a the starting motor repaired, but now it has developed another fault I was looking to see if anyone knew what was wrong as my local garage is unable to pinpoint the fault.
When I am driving along and go to accelerate freda has a flat moment kicks out a tonne of black smoke then returns to normal with no loss of power, any rapid acceleration causes this to happen for example at traffic light or on an over take.
It does not seem to be the turbo but my mechanic feels that it is possible a pipe or valve problem but we dont know where to start looking.
ANY HELP PLEASE??
HELP loss of power and black smoke

EGR? The intake manifold can get gunged up and restrict airflow. You may wish to consider blanking the EGR and removing and flushing the manifold.
Allans Vehicle Services do blanking plates.
Just a hunch - see what others say...
