Engine switch

Ok, the switch with the engine on it that operates the exhaust valve on a two battery winter pack Bongo. Does anyone know if its a powered switch? I want to use it as a simple on/off switch.

If you disconnect any switch from its existing wiring then it will no longer be powered! Most switches will be suitable to use as a simple on/off (single pole, single throw) switch, but you will need to work out what the connections are with a meter normally.

Do you have this set up (or at least the switch & loom) already??

As Geoff says it can be done, but i would use it to a fused relay..

I think there are four wires to the back of the switch.. One is a live with the side lights to back light the switch logo. (in this case an engine) One goes to ground.. The other two would be to complete the circuit for the winter pack thing??
(I don't have a winter pack.) Though, i would put the switch on the ground side of the relay to activate whatever you want switched on..?

If its an after market unit??
