Should these plugs be together?

Whilst looking for the cause of my oil leak the other day, I happened to notice that this little fella in the engine block has a wire with no home. I also noticed that in it's close vicinity, looked a place that was ready to take it in.

Now before I do, what actually am I powering back into life? I thought it was the oil light at first, but I know that works.

1 = not sure what its supposed to be doing, sensor of some sort?
2 = end of wire connection from 1
3 = where I think it needs to go

Looks aftermarket to me, could be wrong though.

I remember having to disconnect / reconnect that wire when I changed my alternator. I have no idea what it is but, as you say, it looks like some kind of sensor

no2 is the low oil or oil pressure switch wire, follow it it is tucked up behind stuff, but its a single wire to the sender.

i think there is also one higher up the engine kirsty,hidden by the stat housing from view, the wire in the picture looks like its hanging down from behind the alternator,with the connector at the bottom (highlighted).
i think one is oil level, and the other oil pressure.

Oil pressure switch is where part "1" on the pic from above seems to be & "2" plugs into "3"?

The oil pressure switch is 18501.

Thanks to all.

From experience, I know the oil light works *cough* so, anyway, after reading the posts, decide to connect. No adverse affects, I haven't unplugged it before, so unsure it it has been forgotten at some stage before or done for a reason.

Found turbo hose jubilee clip needed tightening as well whilst there. Hope that helps my fuel intake or something ...
