Alloy Wheel Refurisher Recommendation

Post by apole » Wed Sep 28, 2011 11:40 am

Hi there,

Just bought a 2nd set of wheels for my normal car to use for winter tyres.

Long story short I found a company that refurbishes wheels and do a cracking job at a reasonable price. I bought a full set off them for less than most charge to refurbish existing wheels and the finish on them is fantastic.

After inspection for damage, the process involved is to totally strip the wheels, then powder coat. This must be far better and longer lasting than just the faces being resprayed. On many wheel styles the corrosion starts on the edges and creeps round.

They also pack the wheels well for transport and use a good company to deliver them with on-line tracking etc.

This is an excerpt from a mail they sent me:

iN REGARDS TO POWDERCOAT we charge £160 for four wheels upto 18 inch size (cannot be chrome wheels) , with collection and delivery to us. or £200.00 including carriage to and fro from us, for this price we can do standard colours like silver, gloss white, red, gloss black, matt black, green, pink, blue, yellow, gold and most other standard solid colours for an extra £60 total cost we can even have a chrome like finish done, the finish is immaculate, wheels get properly prepped (blasted) and then primered before topcoats. unfortunatly dings, bends and cracks cannot be filled or repaired .
plastic centre caps cannot be coloured.

Their website is www.genuine-wheels.co.uk

Thought I'd pass it on as I am very pleased with their work.

Where are they based? The website simply says 'Yorkshire', which is a big county. Well four counties actually.

Thanks

Hi Tim,

No idea to be honest. I did it via phone and they couriered the wheels to me. The guy I spoke to on the phone was very easy going and helpful so maybe give them a call. If you can go there is saves a few bob on shipping.
