Long and short seat runners
OK, people Im confused, I have a 'rear across' conversion and its bl.... marvellous! why because i get a full width bed using the middle bench seat turned around facing the rear, this flattens down and pushes up and locks in against the two seat boxes of the rear conversion..... the problem is that middle bench seat is designed to split to normally allow you to fold it down to make easy access to the rear of the vehicle but in this case its uncomfortble as a bed, so the answer is to remove the middle bench seat and replace it with rear bench seat (without a split) and get it re-uphoistered by Kevin Baggs.....So the confusion is, does the rear seat work with the front runners, do the runners only work with the 'partner bench seat' how do you know which is short runners or long runners. Basically how do I get the rear seat to work as the middle seat?

Re: Long and short seat runners
Just unbolt the 4 bolts on the "legs" under the plastic covers & bolt the rear seat onto the middle runners - this may help http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =43&t=9562
Long rails go all the way to the rear, short rails only go halfway as they are fitted to bongos with the split gullwing type rear seats that don't need rails.

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Long and short seat runners
Don't confuse "Short Runners" with "Short rails".
AFAIK, the front and rear runners differ slightly in that they have slightly different locking fingers which relate to their 'normal' range of positions on the rails.
The rear bench will work happily on the front runners, the interface between seat and runner is the same.
Short rails only appear on the Bongos with the foldy-up seats in the very back in place of the rear bench.

Thanks guys for your help but but I dont think I've explained myself very well as:
I have removed the rear seat and placed it where the middle seat was, turned it round so its facing towards the rear, yes the seat sits fine on the original front seat runners but the (rear seat) release bolt mechanisam is now striking the wrong end of the front seat runner, so the seat stays in a locked position... so, do I have to use the original rear seat runners with the rear seat or can I swap the front runners side to side, but will the lock tags still line up in the tracks? Oh! by the way, the seat is very heavy
Re: Long and short seat runners
It sure is heavy!
As far as I know, you can use either set of runners with either seat, but if you want the seat to be adjustable, the runners need to be turned round to match the seat.
You can also mod the runner to have a double-release mechanism so that the seat will operate it correctly when fitted either way round - handy if you want to turn the seat round regularly. There is a fact sheet showing how it's done.

The link to the FAQ I posted above should point you in the right direction
