Hi all,
I've just found the reason for my soggy carpets in the back - there is a big hole at the back of the N/S rear wheel arch - its on the seam where it meets the floor pan. Its right next to the seat runners and explains why my bongo smells like a big wet dog. The other side isnt looking too hot either.
Has anybody else had rust here? Can it be repaired? I keep finding rust holes! When will it stop? I've got shares in Jenolite and Waxoil now...
cheers,
Steve

Can you post a picture?
I'll have a look on mine 'cos I have sound as if a window is open, or a door not shut properly, from that area on mine that seems to be getting louder - so it could be a hole somewhere.

Hi,
I do have a picture on my phone - but I'm not sure how to post it. I'll figure that out tonight - in the meantime if you want to PM me I can send you the photo direct from the phone.
cheers,
Steve

Re: Big hole in my Bongo!
I had similar on the o/s where the floor meets the inner wheel arch. I cut out the rot, plated it up frim the inside, sealed it in and gave it a damn good waxoyling. Should see me through a few more years.
I think I know where you are refering to and I reckon mine isn't far behind. It comes from inside the rear cross-member and is a common area. Shoudn't be too difficult to weld up, but when it is opened up (cutting out existing rot) make sure it is cleaned out as well as possible and sprayed with wayoyl. Makes the welding a bit more 'exciting' so fire extingusher on standby!

Hi,
Thanks - good point - I was going to see if Discount Trucks could have a go at all my rusty bits but was going to have a waxoil "party" this weekend -maybe I'll leave it out until that works done. It might make things interesting..
Cheers

Re: Big hole in my Bongo!
Just managed to check mine, can't see any rot and tapping (gently) with a hammer give a nice "solid" sound, no dull thuds.
