Ford Freda assistance please

Post by ultrasonic » Mon Sep 19, 2011 2:21 pm

Hi Everyone

I have a Ford Freda N reg which need some TLC could anyone tell me what is wrong so I can get it fixed please.

I go st start but the starting motor does not fire up so all I get is a click if I keep trying then the engine will fire up and off we go, when we do a huge black puff of smoke engulfs the neighbourhood.

plus

my cenral locking has stopped working any suggestions?

finally

my headlights have gone yellow, do I need to buy new ones is there some way of cleaning the lens?

Thanks everyone for your advice in advance, I know that last time I posted you lot were fab =D>

thanks again

Hi with regard to the locking, i have just done mine, likely cause is wiring harness where it goes into the door. Headlights should polish with some polishing compound and a nice coat of wax.
Not sure about starting but clicking sounds like starter motor possibly. I am no expert though.
I am sure someone will correct me if wrong.

do a search on here for recononing your starter contacts, or starter contacts and loads will pop up, even a youtube vid on how to do it,
make sure its a non winterpack starter though as the heavier winterpack starter is different and can not be reconned using this same kit.
if a winterpack motor you can apparantly swap the starter for a non winterpack one.

Hi it would be worthwhile getting your heater plugs checked out.

Cheers.
