any leaks around the fuel pump? Have you checked the small hose from the air intake elbow to fuel pump? Try a search on "Loss & power".
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Removed the Banjo Bolt..but couldn't figure out/find a spring or filter! (was a quick look), running on Standard Diesel now.missfixit70 wrote:Did you check the banjo filter & try runnning with a known clean source of fuel?
May be worth looking at the TPS? - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... t=throttle
Currently searching the forums...got a few topics bookmarked for further investigation!

Hi Wayne,
Do you have any flashing lamps on the dash?... getting to 3000rpm and only reaching 25mph sounds like a gear box problem,or speed sensor problem.
If you give Alacrity a PM he is a auto box expert and a very nice man,he should be able to help.
Cheers..

WHat is coming out of the exhaust when it struggles.
Did you do anything to the bongo just before problem.
Proper fuel filter replacement, too tight for non pure diesel.
As said before, run on pure diesel to see if fuel is problem.
Pipe from tank to filter cut squashed etc.
Pipe at filter have washers back in right place.
Is it revving properly in neutral or is it struggling.

Hi gmaczbongo, Thx for your reply
,
WHat is coming out of the exhaust when it struggles: Nothing unusual, pretty clear, not white/black smoke
Did you do anything to the bongo just before problem: NO
Proper fuel filter replacement, too tight for non pure diesel: Changed filter AFTER the problem. What do you mean by too tight?
As said before, run on pure diesel to see if fuel is problem: Currently running on DERV
Pipe from tank to filter cut squashed etc: Couldn't see any snags.
Pipe at filter have washers back in right place: TBA
Is it revving properly in neutral or is it struggling: As normal, sounds fine
Have been busy over the weekend so only had enough time to to a "test drive" & make some noted observations....wish I could make sense of my observations
I'm guessing
it is gear related rather than a fuel delivery problem as when in Neutral, 1st,2nd the Bongo is fine, it is only when in "D" (Drive) and trying to change in to 3rd that Bongo has a problem...
My Observations
:
(Approx details, of course fluctuates according to road/level etc)
When in "D" (Drive)
25MPH @2200RPM after that becomes a bit hit & miss, sometimes fluctuating revs/lack of power increase but sometimes steady upto 30MPH @ 3000 but then won't change, looses power & drops down to 25MPH with revs up & down.
BUT if if put the shifter into "L" (Low) :
32/35 MPH @ 2500RPM steady
37/40 MPH @ 3000 RPM steady
Any ideas folks? dead gear box or something less costly

Could the throttle position sensor be on the blink? I can't remember exactly, but maybe past threads will reveal any link (and apologies if its been suggested already - rush replying at work and not scanned all reples on this thread)

Thx for that, a few people seem to be pointing in that direction...my next plan of action I guess.

Re: Rising revs & lack of power ??? What's up with my dear B
Hmmm, it sounds more like a lack of power issue than a gearbox problem but it is clearly difficult to be sure without driving the vehicle.
If you pull away flat out & hold your foot to the floor & hold it on kickdown does the engine make its full revs & upshift to 2nd, same for 2-3 shift? If it does without struggling to make its revs then it possibly isn't an engine issue, if it won't make the upshifts or really struggles to make its revs & change up when flat out (on kickdown) then you have engine power issues. If it does all this OK then it may possibly have a solenoid problem, failing hydraulically but OK electrically (so it won't set a code), not at all common but theoretically possible. I'm afraid if it isn't the engine then there are many things it could be in the transmission, ultimately of course ending up with a burnt clutches & needing a rebuild.
There is a very good rebuilder near you at Westbury (TES transmissions 01373 822041) who will give you good honest advice & do the job if needed, they, like us, are not the cheapest around but that is for a good reason - they do a good job, put the right parts in & most of all, like ourselves, offer a proper warranty.

Re: Rising revs & lack of power ??? What's up with my dear B
Seems to be a problem after 3000 revs and no power and engine starts to give trouble.
When does the turbo kick in and is it working.
Could be a simple turbo clean adjust etc.
Filter tight was just a filtration problem, alternative fuel is thicker and some filters stop it getting through.
Decent garage should be able to diagnose quite quickly.
