Coolant Alarm fitting

my alarm has arrived from Hayden cheers mate. But I'm not sure where to connect the positive red wire, I have looked under the dash drivers side but unsure where to connect. Please help

Get some pics of the roof tent when it's sorted, are they "shortening" it to pull it tight for a better fit? Make sure it's not too tight if they do or it may hinder the roof raising (as you've probably thought about already if so )

Thanks Kirsty still none the wiser re: blue wires, cranking etc I suck at electrics.

Will take some photos of tent when adapted we are doing it ourselves by shortening the two front straps then refitting to check, we might sew some darts in to lift the top fabric. We are quite remote here regarding garages etc

the blue wire and blue/white wire are to be found going into the back of the fuse board down by the drivers right knee.
take off the cover then take out the 2 screws holding fuse board in place. pull board gently towards you and you will see lots of wires going into back.
The blue/white one is a 12v feed but when you start the engine [cranking]the power is lost until the engine is running therefore everytime you start engine you lose power on that blue/white feed for a few seconds.
The blue one is 12v power and not interrupted so try this one. You can tap into this wire but if cutting make sure wherever you make the cut you leave enough wire each end to reconnect to.
Join a length of wire into this blue wire and take it to the alarm but somewhere in its length you insert an inline fuse [ 3amp]. pic of fuse holder below in link.

the blue wire is then reconnected to back of fuse board . All you're doing is pinching the power supply from an established source but adding protection of a fuse as you have by passed the one on the fuse board.

thanks Nigel, went down about 4 halfords lookie likeys here in oz but they didn't have any the correct size, would it possible to connect to the wire from the cigarette lighter??

Probably obvious to you but might not be to everybody reading this thread in future - disconnect the perishing battery before fiddling around behind the fuse box

Mike - wherever you take a feed from it should be fused inline. As missfixit says any ignition live is ok as long as you fuse it. Try ebay or Maplins [ if available in Oz ] for fuse holder.A lot will take any size fuse up to a specified rating. Maybe a car spares shop?

As Ron Meil says if you're going to start having a mess disconnect the battery first. If you have leisure battery disconnect both if you dont know what feeds what. For instance cig lighters are starter battery but most commonly changed to leisure battery.

Thanks again, I think I will have to order an inline fuse, that's fine I can connect to the blue wire, I have done the odd electrical job before, I just get a big nervous about cutting wires etc.

You can go for the back of the ciggy socket as long as it is live only when the ignition is switched on.
I always go for the green/yellow wire at the back of the fuse box 2nd row down...(it works the drivers side blinds)
If you use this green/yellow it is already fused.....

If LB fitted isn't this green/yellow wire usually one of the feeds converted to LB along with cig lighter/radio/pass. elec.blinds.[6,7,8 ] ?
Dont know if LB is fitted just playing devil's advocate in case !

Certainly is the norm for a Willinton type set up, but then at least you can use the spare switched supply from the top fuse slot of that position if the lb supply has been patched in on the bottom circuit supply fuse slot.

thanks again for all the replies I cannot say enough. Bongo Fury has helped me out so many times over the last few years.

I have no leisure battery fitted (as yet)

Haydn that's the way I think the last alarm was fitted I fitted it with my Brother in law who did the under the dash install while I did under the bonnet install as he didn't fancy drill through the tank.

After reading the notes and seeing Kirsty Bongo Bleeding instructions on youtube I am going to change the coolant first. Kirsty is the bleed pipe somewhere different do you know?
