Power steering pump leaking (V6)

Post by Pablobongo » Wed Aug 31, 2011 6:08 pm

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to stop the power steering pump leaking, other than replacing it with a new one [-o< ?......turns out that this is what actually killed my alternator :( (see my other recent post in Techie).
Been an expensive week so far, and I am not out of the woods yet :x

May be worth trying some power steering stop leak, such as this - http://www.lucasoil.co.uk/products.php? ... product=16
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Not at all  just showing what to expect & that it doesn't look too difficult. I'd probably try a bit of instant gasket type stuff myself TBH.

Dar, thanks for the advice.....Kirsty, also many thanks for the diagram :D .Gonna see if i can get a new gasket, and sort it live-o.....before it kills me newly re-cond alternator.
By the by, the lads who did re-con my alternator are tops!, cant recommend them enough. They removed, re-conditioned it and re-fitted it, years warranty all for £140.00. They are based in Dover, and also offer a postal re-con service. If anyone is interested PM me for their details :D

Again, through the collective knowledge of this forum, another successful repair has been done. Special thanks are due to Cheffy 34 (Dar) who steered me down the correct path. =D>
