I was wondering if it could be the starter-motor solenoid points wearing out? They do kits for them on Ebay. But I can't really understand how this would improve on moving to Neutral.

Probably needs someone with knowledge of the autobox to help out on here......

do a search on here for the gearbox interlock, its a cable lock that stops the gearbox lever moving whilst the footbrake isnt pressed,it locks everything up,check its adjusted/connected.
there have been times when it has broken under the gear lever.

Mine's gone intermittent at times but it is OK at the moment. You used to have to select parrk a couple of times or wobble the shifter. I guess ADS noticed it and adjusted it when it was in there. :)

Hi,it might also be worthwhile having a look at the inhibitor on the side of the box..

Teenmal is probably correct. Most range selector switches (used to be known as an inhibitor switch when all it did was inhibit starting in gear & operate reverse lights back pre 90's) are adjustable so it could just be that, but check your selector cable is correctly adjusted & the lever on the side of the transmission is going fully into the park position before adjusting the switch.
