Re: broken down! advice please
in my opinion the temps shown on your mason modified temp gauge are at the fan switching point,(96 deg c) this suggests that the only thing cooling your bongo at the moment are the rad fans.
this in itself is not ness bad,as long as the fans come in and reduce the temps to around the mid 80's. usually shown on the mason mod gauge at around the 1 oclock position, then the fans switch off. if the fans are staying on,and not reducing the temps then either it needs bleeding,or you have a fault.

so far its not looking good i have called Dave at Worcester Mobile Mechanics an unless i bought mine from this one dealer they wont look at mine and i have tryed to call Ian Taylor who i got it of but no joy but will try again later my only problem is that its over an hours drive for me to ians

Re: broken down! advice please
It's been said before, but I would not drive it anywhere until you sort this problem. If you can't find a garage, maybe there's a member in your area who would be able to help? In the members area, there's a list of volunteers.
Allans Garage retired. Try PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services Plymouth
Re: broken down! advice please
Ok have spoken to Ian and Barrington and they have been really helpful and they think I still have air in the system they have suggested that giving it a steady drive helps move some of the air. Ian said that they have to do that in the shop when they cant get the air out so when I get home looks like im getting the funnel out again

Just as a curiosity... Have you ever had a slight start up pip sound from your Mason alarm with the ignition, prior to your over heating/top hose leak episode???

(Yours was a bit too big to load up on the forum, so illustrated with mine!)
Don't shoot me down guys....
But this looks relatively normal to me!

Over four years ownership, 3 with the Mason... Serviced by Bellhill..

1/2 tank of diesel looks normal to me
Mine has always had a start up pip.
Assume that's to let you know it's ( Mason ) properly connected and working.
My temp gauge has never gone that high even doing 70 up hills.
Or sat in traffic.
Usually max 3/4s across. OK not too different looking again.
Mine has a new rad and stat so if yours doesn't ( jaylee ) that might explain the slight difference.

I did read a long time ago that sometimes a false alarm on the mason is indicative of an impending alternator failure.. Or possible battery problem..??

The reason i asked xxchefxx is maybe the mason was not connected properly & was running on damped..?? possibly by sheer fluke it works now & looks like it's running too hot!?? Yeah there was a leak on the top hose, moving the Mason like this http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb13 ... photo1.jpg & tugging at the loom may have reconnected it??
Your right though, the rad is gonna be next on my list...

Re: broken down! advice please
Ok I have drove to work but im still worried that the gauge is higher than normal so is there a guide or even better a video on how to change the thermostat
The last post about the battery could be relevant as I hadn’t used my van for almost 2 weeks and I had a flat battery the day before the water pipe blew
The other thought I had is could it be my alarm playing up?

No harm while your investigating this checking the battery is holding charge & The alternator is up to par with the charging...
Check the terminals on the battery are tight too! I had a problem with the wifes Micra going flat after 2 day stood.. Even after a new battery! It had a key less system & was a bvgger to break into to jump with the trusty Bongo... A Nissan dealer & the place i got the battery from couldn't find a problem!
So after 3 weekends of the same old jump on a Monday morning & going over it with a meter/checking out Micra sites waffling on about a drain caused by sub bass systems & alarms & the like... My wife's car had none of which.. So as a last ditch attempt i gave the terminals a tweak.. Months of trouble free starting!

Or another usual mystery flat battery scenario... The boot light NOT going out when the boot closes... Not applicable to the bongo of course.
