Did you get the Bottom Hose HOT by the time you stopped bleeding it ???? and did you check the heaters were blowing hot ??

If yes to the above .. I fear the worst...

If No to the above....bleed again....it will take about 40 mins.

Is coolant getting chucked out of the header tank overflow when you start up ??? Thats a very bad sign

If that is a standard unmodified gauge it is too hot.

If it has not been modified to give an accurate response anything other than the normal 11 o'clock reading is bad news and usually bad news too late to do anything about it.

mason alarm

your temp gauge has been modified so act more like a traditional gauge unlike most Japanese vehicles which sit there damped till they suddenly go to H RED game over insert head for replay......

If it is showing hotter than before though something needs looking at, bleeding, thermostat flushing.

Just been told by a friend that I could take the thermostat out till I get a new one and that will stop it from over heating is that true?

Or will that just make me blissfully unaware of the fact my engine is about to explode

Personaly I wouldn't bother with short term bodges. If you take the stat out you will have to bleed it again, then fit a new stat and bleed it yet again.

I definaately wouldn't drive it until you are certain it's been fixed properly, even if it means paying to transport it to a Bongo friendly garage it could well be cheaper than blowing something expensive.

I doubt your stat has failed.... Get the thing looked at by a Bongo garage.....it will be the best thing in the long run.

Good shout Haydn, Dave at Worcester Mobile Mechanics (very near Shrub Hill station) has done work for me and I'm very happy to use him, and LPG Imports is a Forum Member and well thought of.

Slightly further away is Ian Taylor, Stoke, or Wheelquick, Wigan.
