rear wiper not working - how to remove?

Post by Bongo-Bubble » Fri Apr 15, 2011 12:28 pm

Bonog needs a few jobs doing, so am trying to have a go myself....

My rear wiper does not work?

I have removed the inside panel, I have power to the connector that connects to the motor ... and therefore suspect that the motor has burnt out??

I am trying to remove the motor but cannot seem to work out how the wiper arm comes off?? #-o

Please can anyone tell me how to remove my rear wiper arm? It is probably obvious and really simple but has me baffled??

Thank-you for reading and hope I soon have working rear wiper :D

Before you go mad and strip out the wiper motor, check that you have an earth connection, you may have 12V in, but a broken earth wire in the tailgate harness. Run an earth wire between the body and tailgate and try again.

Failing that the wiper arm has a flip up cover at the base, which covers a nut, remove the nut and wiggle the arm and it should come loose.

Thanks for the info...managed to get the wiper arm off....so simple but BRILL advice, thanks :) - Tried the earth wire, but still no joy :(

Took the motor out, stripped it down, cleaned the armature and found that one of the carbon brushes was sticking, freed it, reassembled, its all spring loaded and need several pairs of hands, but its now working fine :D

Our lad is brill, better go make him a cuppa :D

and thanks to quick response bongofury friends :D
