I probably won't join you on the Portmeirion trip as I went for free in January and resent paying when I go so often and I'm also a cheapskate! Although it is my favouritest place ever (but only in the winter when I have it myselfMuzorewa wrote:Bumping this up now as we're less than three weeks away.
Any further info on what people are going regarding Portmeirion, train from Waunfawr etc or is anyone thinking of walking up Snowdon?![]()
Jr is on about Snowdon, not sure yet whether he really wants to climb it or just take a bottle of gin up there and fling himself off a cliff![]()
I think I'll take the train from Llanberis

Early-bird discount seems to be correct but you have to book in advance, a bit of a downer if it then happens to be foggy at the topLoopyLoo wrote:I walked up Snowdon last September in the wind and rain with 3 mtrs visibility. I'd love to do it again on a nice day but not sure my OH would..the train sounds like a plan though if you go on the first train of the day I believe its cheaper but that could just be an 'out of season' thing.
Not sure if I'm reading the wrong bit but doesn't it say £19 return to the summit for early bird?Muzorewa wrote:

This allows for 54 seats. If we need any more than that - Tough!!

In true last minute type fashion, here's the latest.
Can get the carriage but the first train, on this years timetable at 11.35, gets us to Porthmadog 2 hours later - five minutes after the connecting train to Penrhyndeudraeth leaves, making it a four hour one way journey.
The alternative is to hire our own train but its rather prohibitively expensive so that the Choo-Choo is a No-No I'm afraid.![]()
BUT - The road trip from the site to Portmeirion is well worth the effort, a stunning vista of what Proper Scenery should look like and a convoy would be cool. I'll have at least four spare seats if anyone wants to stay parked up & needs a lift.
Numbers wise, still a fair few spaces available. Anyone else thinking about it can get info from HERE if & when you book please remember to mention the Bongo Do so you can be allocated a plot with the Gang.
