adhesive for chrome trim
About 18 months ago the thin chrome trim on the trailing edge of the passenger door cam loose near the top (where the curve is) and I stuck it in place with some contact adhesive (evostick). Now it has come loose again and the eveostick has sort of spread out in a messy way. I've managed to remove most of the old evostcik with paint thinners - does anyone have experience of the best sort of adhesive to use for this job.

I used rapid araldite with good results. Mask off the paintwork next to the strip and the strip itself so you can use your fingers to smooth out any excess etc. Prepare, clean and roughen contact surfaces properly before application. Clamp until thoroughly hardened (which means not doing it in cold weather)ronhud wrote:About 18 months ago the thin chrome trim on the trailing edge of the passenger door cam loose near the top (where the curve is) and I stuck it in place with some contact adhesive (evostick). I used silicone (the stuff you seal bathrooms with). It's been ok for 2 years but it failed last weekend when I caught the trip with a cleaning sponge. Was considering fixing with evostick but after your exPerience I thunk I'll just use silicone again )especially as I have some.
Good luck

Thanks mike. It's good to know that Araldite will do the job but how do I clamp this thin springy strip and especially order some warm weather!!

I g-clamped mine to the ridge of the door (my trim is down the opening edge of the door. Finding warm weather is another problem altogether!ronhud wrote:Thanks mike.
