Rattle in Dash

Post by irnbru » Mon Mar 07, 2011 11:20 pm

Hello just got my bongo at the weekend and all is well apart from an annoying loud rattle sound from the dash near the airvent but further up the dash towards the front window on the drivers side. When i push my hand down on it very hard it stops. Should i remove the speeedo unit to see what it might be. Will i be able to see from there or is it sealed off?
any help please it driving me madd. p.s i do expect some rattles here and there but this is seriously annoying!!!
Thank you

We found 6 or 7 metal and plastic Japanese coins in the ventilation groove hardup against the window screen that would start rattling from time to time a variety of tools and sharp objects to dislodge and remove them were required! Oh and small adjustable mirror to look down the gap helped!

If you remove the instrument binicle eight screws in total you will be able to get behind the dash easy - may also be worth removing the stereo and checking the route of the cables at the same time - there is a large renforcing bar that runs from the drivers side to the passenger side something may be touching that. Hope this helps. :)

Could it be banging against the trim on the A pillar??
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

open both front doors and remove the end caps of the dash with plenty of care and a screwdriver type tool, underneath are the main mounting bolts, 2 x 10mm or 12mm if i remember right.
