Van hard to start after trip to garage

Had the following things done at the garage today now my van does not start very well at all.
(it was a bongo friendly garage)

new fuel filter and inline filter
run through fuel line cleaner

before it went in it started first turn of the key every time,
now it takes five or six turns of the engine before it starts

van runs fine once it starts

its a 2.5 diesel
any ideas?

What's the in-line filter?
I'd take it back to the garage - possibly an air/fuel leak

Not sure what in line filter is myself, its what was listed on the recipt
i will ring them monday.

Yep sounds like air to me..air ingress on inline filters is common if they look like

But i use them and been fine,not sure why you need one tbh,have you had a look under bonet?sorry under seats>

Not looked yet, will have a look tomorrow

it now also coughs and spluters for a few seconds when it starts.

got to be air,on my veg oil kit you get this if your system is not 100% as its looped(well is on mine)

Sounds like it could be your heater plug/s could be faulty.

yep and that...i changed mine this autum after poor starting,now 1st turn.

But it was in the garage and was ok b4..

Prob best you jsut take it back monday,and dont worry to much(not like me)

its hard not to worry... but it must be to do with the work the garage had done

the annoying thing is this:
when he rang to say the van was ready he said , oh your van does not start to well when its hot,
i said no, but i was reffering to the possible two turns of the engine it takes if you do not let the glow plug light go out and wait 5 seconds, there is no way on earth it was anything like it is now when i took it in.

Things are going from bad to worse with my van.
got it from a highly recommended dealer (recommended by this site) ..... it uses 1 litre of oil every 1000miles brakes are shot exhaust fell off, drop links gone....i could go on
dealer said try some slick 50...

Thing is it has been fine for 10 months, then the day i take it to get new fuel filter it starts..

you could put a bit of clear pipe in line b4 fuel pump this will show up if its air in there,on my bongo most of my pipes are a nylon clear type and it helps to see where air is getting in

Hi dangaran,
Now that you have mentioned (((((oh your van does not start to well when its hot))))
it is now unlikely that it is a heater problem.

Have a quick look at the copper washers that are all around the fuel strainer on the pump.If they were put back wrongly or are missing or loose, you get the problem you have described.

Ok, spoke to garage,
they say , they thought my diesel pump seals may have gone???
£15 plus upto 2 hours labour (£90)

this sound like a conspiracy to me
