Long seat rails to short rail car

Post by vanvliet » Wed Sep 06, 2006 12:31 pm

Has anyone actually attempted ( and possibly failed ) to fit a set of long rails to an early short rail car? Why should it be a problem?

I can't speak from personal experience but I recall my importer telling me that you can't do it that way around as the channels aren't there to receive the long rails.

can be done and most floor pans have the hang nut already welded in!!! just have to be careful with the drill, bongolows only ever had full length rails and it would seem they used the same floor panel on all models at the factory, just holes and nuts that vary slightly

Thanks WVM This makes sense. The cost of producing different floor pans would be uneconomic. I have a set of long rails and will swop them over as a winter project
