Sliding door problem

Post by bongosurf » Sun Sep 10, 2006 10:14 pm

Has anybody experienced this problem.
My sliding door worked fine when i used it the middle of last week. I went to open it yesterday and it wouldn't move. I tried the interior and exterior handles but nothing, it just won't budge. The lock still pops up and down with the central locking.
I had a new custom exhaust fitted yesterday at Longlife but surely this is just a coincidence that the door doesn't open anymore. Or could the guys at Longlife somehow affected the door?
Any suggestions please :?

Squirt some releasing/thin oil on to the runners and rollers at the top, middle and bottom of the door.

This just has just happened to us as well.
Caused by battery going flat, already suspected the original Jap battery was on its last legs.
Have fixed it now using some of the advice in the 'Members area/factsheets/sliding door'.
But really all I did was loosely reattach the door handle after removing the door card then pull on it whilst prodding the mechanicals in the lower part of the door (area 2). This made everything wizz & click back to normal, and I didn't even have to remove the plastic door lining, good.
By far the most scary part was removing the clips behind the hardboard door card, so I've stuck some gaffa tape reinforcing over the clip holes just in case I ever need to it again.

Fixed it. The arm on the motor had stuck half way through its cycle, as suggested as one of the options on the fact sheet. I fiddled with it and it popped back into place and all seems to be working fine now.
Thanks for all your help.
