CB Radio

Post by astrobyker » Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:25 pm

Just wondering if anyone has fitted a CB radio to their Bongo. If so, any tips on fitting, wher to put the aeriel etc. would be interesting. Thanks.

Did toy with doing it, fitting a split feed radio and cb coax switch.

Gave up and fitted a feed in for the ipod to the stereo instead :)

Just use a normal mount on the rear door, click for the full image;

I have one for travelling with a mate in convey. Mine is on a mag mount on the roof.
I have made a mount that screws into the roof hole at the back and the ariel cable runs down into the hatch back and then under the bongo into the large rubber gromet on the drivers side.

But, my next project is to get a piece of painted steel matching the roof colour the width of the two back roof holes and put a mag mount in the middle of the roof.
I can then use this metal for my TV mag mount too.

If you go to maplins, you can buy a 10ft extension kit for extending the cable, make sure you ask them for the connector to go with it.
It cost about £22.

Thanks for the replies. I've got an old CB coming from e-bay. When it's up and running I'll let you know how I got on. And whether there's still anyone out there!

The 2CV club members used to use CB for when they convoyed to/from/during Camping weekends and meets..... and if they got lost when near to a meet, but I guess Sat Nag's and Mobiles have encroached since then and they may not use CB's anymore.......
We had one in each of our 2CV's....... I have probably still got the units in the garage....
