Big thick gloves, big torch and mat to kneel on when you put the chains on.
Not a fun job in the dark in the snow.

Has anyone had experience driving with Snow Socks around the Alps? Aside from the legal requirements for carrying chains, will the gendarmes insist you have chains, or do they look upon snow socks as ok as well?

The Gendarmes class the snow socks as chains, so you should have no problems!!
The saying “Getting there is half the fun” was penned with a Bongo in mind!

Re: Bongo in the Alps - Winter Checklist?
Quick question about coolant / anti-freeze... Ive checked it visually, and its sitting at the full line and its a red / orange colour. I had the bongo fully serviced when I purchased it back in May and was told they did a full coolant change.
Is there anything else I should do before heading off to the alps in a few days? From what Ive read the red/orange colour is expected, unless of course there was rust present, but how would I be able to tell if that is the same colour?
Id hate to try and start the thing after a night in -20 and it not to fire up!

you can check the strength of your anti-freeze with one of these.....

handy to know just how strong your mixture is
