CV BOOT HELP
Hi everyone iv just found that one of my cv boots is split so iv found a new one on ebay for ?6.95 but it says inside or outside ? which do i need ? does this mean inside as in passenger and outside as driver?
CV boot change
I have just changed a cv boot and had previous experience on my mazda 626 of difficulty getting the drive shaft nut undone. I got round this on Freda by undoing the track rod end, taking out the bottom suspension strut bolt to hub assembly and loosening the second one.
Undo the inner boot clamp and pull it back. Take out the spring clip holding the inner spider cover the wishbone with a cloth and then pull on the hub and the inner joint will pull out, watch for the 6 ball bearings which should drop into the cloth. Turn the hub so that you can get at the circlip that holds the spider to the shaft and pull off the spider. I had to use a puller. You can then slide both boots off and replace as necessary. Clean up the joints and reverse the process grease the ball bearings and reassemble the inner joint.
This is the same process as taking the drive shaft out completely without the hassle of taking the driveshaft completely out
