I have been to this site in May this year, the site location is brilliant, the toilet block is very warm, a good shop on site. The only downside was the food both in the bar and in is a bit on the pricey side. I had roast beef and yorkshire pud with vegatables in the inn and if memory serves me it was about £7 (the cheapest on the menu) the beef was rather on the thick side and it came in 10 mins which makes me suspect it was pre cooked and warmed up in a microwave. Don't let this put you off it is a nice site with plenty of walks down to Brotherswater and Hartsop.

Nice to have some heads up info... =D>
In fact there was only a choice of 3 sites so I chose this one for the Wicked Winter Camp 2011.... :D

One of the very best sites in the Lakes.

Be prepared to access it from the Penrith/Ullswater end though...Kirkstone Pass can easily get snowed/iced up at that time of year.

I'll try to pop over for a day visit on the Saturday afternoon/evening weather permitting.

Can you also post this meet on the Northwest section please.

Good luck

Have you actually been to a campsite in the Lakes over New Year - if its near a pub then it will be packed - so yes I completely agree it is high season.
Yes, The Quiet Site near Ullswater with an on-site bar, 30th-31st December 2007, and the site lived up to its name. I think they charged £32.00 for one night and justified that by playing the "High Season" card [-X

At the moment it's only looking like us, Mike & Barrington. You'll need to contact Mike as he's probably done a deal with the site

I think they have a donkey to pull errant motorhomes off the site
