Lights failure, Instrument panel and rear lights

Post by Smidd » Sun Aug 15, 2010 11:55 pm

Saturday night driving down the A1, the intrument panel light flickered a couple of times then 5 minutes later went out completely. Stopped to check and found that I had also lost rear lights and front fog lights. Have checked fuse No 8 under bonnet and all the fuses under the dash, all seem fine. Any other suggestions please I feel a trip to an Auto electrican maybe required. Any suggestions, Worecester area.

if it turns out to be the light stalk,the early mazda 323 stalk fits and i think the 626 but just check first.

More than likely one of the relays on the inside of the passenger side wing under the bonnet, comes up fairly often, you can use a generic relay with some flying leads made up, or go have a look around the scrappy, previous poster may even be able to help out as he has a penchant for scrapyards :wink:

There aren't many connectors in the circuit, so its rather likely to be the fuse or the stalk as previously suggested;

If it flickered before going out then its not likely to be the fuse either.

Thanks guys, booked in with an electrician for tomorrow morning. I'll let you know the outcome. Incidentally I have also noticed that the front fog lights and the rear fog light also do not work. Does it still point to the stalk the relay?

My wife has a S reg 323, it looks very much like the same as the bongo stalk, I wonder if she will notice if the stalk disappears.
