No Fuel gauge light

Post by Terry0clare » Sat Aug 19, 2006 1:05 pm

I've just taken delivery of a new (to me) Bongo and noted that the fuel gauge didn't illuminate when I put the lights on. When I pointed this out to the dealer, he said that Bongo fuel gauges don't light up. Is this true?

There are a series of bulbs behind the instrument dials which should light up all the dials. They are standard bulbs found in the majority of cars & it would only take them 15 mins to remove the 4 screws that hold the surround & the 4 that hold the dials & replace the dodgy bulb. Sounds like the dealer doesn't know much about Bongos, or cars in general, if he thinks that is normal.

Unless it was a misunderstanding about what you meant as most (or at least most older) Bongos don't have a low fuel light.

If it is the illumination of the gauge that you mean, then follow SJ's advice.

Cheers, I thought that must be the case. Thanks for the advice. Terry
