auto's 2600 at 70mph
manual about 3100 at 70mph

if your an auto box and your lock up is not working this could differ.or if you have pressed the hold button you may get to nearly 4000 at 70 mph

Sounds too high to me - somewhere in the mid to high two's would be more like it

MPH per 1000 rpm in lock-up top is 25 checked against a sat nav.

So 2000rpm is 50mph and 3000rpm is 75mph.

Funny thing you saying this, i was talking to Madmile 'Ed' the other day bout this very thing, anyway i checked ours yesterday and ours ticks over at 3450rpm at 70 mph, but we do have a V6 and run on LPG, is that about right for a V6 on LPG :?:

The LPG makes no difference whatsoever, but the 3450rpm is probably about right as petrols have to run at higher revs than diesels as they have much less torque.

In top (4th) gear at about 37mph (and under gentle acceleration) the torque converter on a auto "locks" and stops "converting" from that point on the engine revs are directly related to road speed with no further "slushing" of revs - it sounds as if another gear has been engaged, but it hasn't really.

From memory I'm normally 2700rpm for 60mph, and a touch over 3000 for 70mph. (Manual 4WD Diesel)

I'm sure I read long ago on here the manual ones rev higher than the auto diesel.
