Rear air con isolation

Post by dp bradford » Sat May 22, 2010 3:29 pm

Hi folks,

Not been on for a while but have kept one eye on you all! Now, I've got a bit of a problem with my air conditioning.... the system won't hold pressure and I've isolated the problem as far as the rear system. Can I just blank off the two pipes that run under the driver's side floor as in the picture, or do I need to cross link them? I know the rear air con will no longer work, but as I never use it I'm not too bothered

I've done searches and found various postings regarding removal of the whole rear heater - I just cant decide if I need to blank off or cross link these two pipes!

Blank em, as per the lush projects diagram which shows the blanked pipes for the bongos with no rear heater/ac - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 1of02.html
I guess you can buy the proper blanks via mazda, I doubt you'd get them off the shelf anywhere else as it's dependant on the thread size & pitch & has to allow the pipe stub to sit inside. I cut off the ends off the pipes going to the rear ac (connection under the rear of the passy seat), cleaned them up, filled them with chemical metal, flattened the ends & crimped them over a couple of times

As described here - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 0&start=45

No leaks or problems once the system was refilled 8)
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

OK, pipes capped off. Now, where's the low pressure filling port? I've located one that is between the air con radiator and the grill, but it has a 'H' stamped on it and I have a refill kit that contains dire warnings about connecting to the high pressure port - so I need to be sure before I blow myself up
