Unidentified round rocker switch with red LED
Hi,
I'm now the proud owner of a lovely 1995 Ford Freda AFT 2WD 2.5TD Auto. On the dash board adjacent to my right knee is an unidentified round rocker switch with red LED. Looks a bit like this:

As it looks nothing like any of the other switches I'm guessing it's an aftermarket addition but can't work out for the life of me what it's for. I've just driven the van home since picking it up. Whilst on the motorway I switched the switch but nothing happened and the LED did not illuminate. However, since arriving at home, initially, when I switched the switch the light came on both while the engine was running and wiht the engine off but ignition on. However, now I've been home for some time the LED no longer illuminates, enginer running or not.
Anybody have any ideas what it might be for? Some form of crude high temperature indicator perhaps? Or something to do with the leisure battery?
Any ideas would be much appreciated. It's dark now but will investigate further in the morning...
Cheers
Ross

have you had a look round the rear at the fog light.
might have to turn your headlights on. just a guess but the switches are often located on that side.

Try the switch when you have your lights on - On my Bongo this is where the rear fog lamp switch is located - I don't think they have them in Japan so requires a new lamp and swiych in the UK.
Hope this help

On mine it is the rear fog light but it doesn't do anything unless you have the main lights on as well - same goes for the front fogs - they won't come on unless the main lights are on

Thanks folks. Yup, seems the LED is controlled by whether the headlights are on full beam but the rear fog lights still don't come on? Will check the bulb...

As the fog light is an aftermarket fit when they come into the uk, check under the rear bumper for dangling wires where the dangly fog may have got ripped off, or see if the drivers side reverse light has been rewired & a red bulb put in for a fog light.
