Anyone who has watched the recent Hairy Bikers series on TV will remember the Anstruther Fish Bar as the ultimate chippy. We thought we should check it out

Up the M6 to Carlisle then across the border on the A7 to Edinburgh

Couldn’t resist this on the way to Galashiels

Haggis machines

Whilst in Edinburgh you have to stop at Lupe Pinto’s for those essential “Friday afternoon” groceries

The rather impressive Fettes College in Edinburgh

Unfortunately the Forth Bridge was undergoing some maintenance, perhaps unsurprising for a 120-year-old structure....

....but the scaffolding makes you wonder how they did it all those years ago

Eight hours later, we’re at the hallowed Anstruther Fish Bar....

....where the fish & chips also had a hint of haggis, not sure how that happened

....although the chips were absolutely scrum-diddly-umptious

And then to Lower Largo....

....birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the original Robinson Crusoe

I’ve been looking for a bunch of daffs like this for ages

I think this has been on the forum before, this taken outside its home in Methil, Fife.
Now, think of Cowdenbeath Football Club, Scottish Second Division side. You’ve probably heard James Alexander-Gordon reeling off the results for years now and wondered how tiddly teams like that survive....

....deploy your pace-car in the 18-yard box....

....a recovery truck on the goal line....

....the winner’s podium in the centre circle....

....and have banger-racing after the game

Ever wondered what happens to old minis

....or old Sierras:

The only thing to top that would be to have the football match on at the same time as well

Time for a classy tea at the Shimla Palace, right outside the stadium.

When we were there in 2007 the roof was dodgy....

....and they’ve just got round to doing something about it now

After a night wild-camping at an unspecified location in Clackmannanshire, off round the east coast for breakfast....

....fording through Pease Bay, Berwickshire....

....to Giacopazzis in Eyemouth. But we didn’t have time to wait, we had to be somewhere else before the tide came in....

....Lindisfarne....

....with Lindisfarne castle....

....and Priory.

Then off to Jedburgh Abbey....

....and the Abbey chippy....

....for another haggis-tinged fish & chips. Only in Scotland

Hey Ewe, how many lambs did you have?

Back to England over Carter Bar to Corbridge, Northumberland.
