Driver door wiring

In the process of fitting the alarm, my man pointed out that the loom between the main body and the driver's door had exploded and there were various re-joins (wrapped in insulating tape). That exlained why door-triggered lights and central locking weren't working properly! Not sure about the one that isn't connected either!

Before I dig in and start tracing, would the pre-2000 wiring diagrams be useful?

All I really want to do is make it good - I'm not an auto-electrician, but I can work stuff out.

The differences between the 1995 and 1997 versions are minimal, just how much we can rely on the subsequent update to have been minimal we can only guess at!
I think my tack on this would be to compare the looms and colours with what you have and if they are similar or identical assume that they are likewise similar or identical!
Just checking the loom connectors (connectors for each page are shown at the bottom of each page - and connectors between looms are shown on pages 137/140 to 143) for the number of connections would also be a good indicator I reckon.

door trigger for lights doesn't run through door loom, the pin is located to the rear of the door space on the vehicle, held in with a philips screw, undo, pull it out n clean the end of the contacts to resolve. get hold of some extra flexible wire (it has lots on thin cores) and cut out the broken wiring as close to the body/door as you can capably work with and replace the bottom of the loop, its not actually the door action that cuts the wiring, its the plastic conduit that surrounds it that goes stiff n brittle n cuts through them common problem.

Disappointing to hear of it happening on a 'younger' example. I believe this bit of loom has plugs at both end. Would it be practical I wonder for someone to produce refurbished ones on a cottage industry basis as I can see a market for these as Bongos get older.
