Big Draught in passenger foot well

Post by Mattsonics » Sat Mar 13, 2010 9:05 pm

Been meaning to get to the bottom of this one for a while.

Has it been covered before?

I have found the source - which I am sure others will know as an aperture with a grill (inch spacings) behind the glove box - only felt it with air blowing through so far- not looked yet. I managed to do this whilst we were driving over the top of the Pennines where the air is obviously pretty cold - so more of a problem than at street level.

Thoughts?

Should this vent exist?

Could be as simple as one of the control links has come off, they are fitted as shown in this thread http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=26835

Just like on the back of 61-B03 here - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html

It's part of the air intake, as Geoff says check all your controls & linkages are conected ok, if you put it to recirc see if it stops.

FAQ here that may help - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 43&t=28727
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

thanks

you were obviously correct!

for some dumb reason i had believed that the fresh air / recirculate controlled air fed solely into the heater matrix, which it obviously doesn't!

so basically unless you want cold air in all the time - this stays shut!? i.e. this fresh air isn't warmed.

Check your linkages & flaps are working ok, never been aware of draughts in the nether regions of my passengers  & i don't often use the recirc control.
Do your heaters heat up ok?

Heater seems absolutely fine?

The recirculate control, controls a flap which is visible through the grill which seems to just open up to the outside world. would you expect the grill to be feeding into something else?

Maybe I am missing a part?

It can be quite cold in t' north!

Thanks Kirsty - I had a look at Lush Projects - it is actually very helpful!

I couldn't see any parts missing.

I do tend to drive about on the fells a lot - that probably has as much to do with it!

Cheers
