dear b'nauts
any suggestions why oil warning light should come on briefly while travelling? Happened shortly after take-off on a cold engine. 2.5 TD manual N reg. Oil level is ok. Cheers. Rob

When this happened to me, it was cured by installation of a new Oil Pressure Switch.

When you say level is ok, where is it on a cold dipstick? Mine flickers on at start up long before it gets to the bottom of the dipstick (happened twice in nearly 3 years of ownership), there is a level switch in there, gives you plenty of notice to top it up. Only needed a quarter of a litre or so each time.

Exactly the same with my old Morris 1000 convertible c1972. No sure if the Moggie and the Bongo share the same engine type mind you so best check.Ian wrote:When this happened to me, it was cured by installation of a new Oil Pressure Switch.

Re: oil warning light
My wife's Bongo is also suffering from this. I've found a replacement switch: http://www.mazdabongoshop.co.uk/Shop/El ... witch.html, my question is where does it go? If someone can give me a rough idea of how to change it I'll knock up a guide with pics for the members area.
Re: oil warning light
So is it just a matter of unscrewing the old one and screwing the new one in or do I need to drain the oil first?
Probably a stupid question but I have to ask. I have visions of removing the old switch and oil squirting me in the face.

Engine off - no pressure - just unscrew it - a dribble might come out
