Torque wrench settings

Post by thepickles » Mon Mar 08, 2010 3:41 pm

Hi all

I am fitting new rear pads at the weekend,

I thought I would have a quick read of the fact sheet 8)

But no mention of torque settings for the wheel nuts or caliper bolts not so 8)

Could someone post the settings please

and should any mechanical fact sheets be updated to include torque settings :?: :?:

I am a great believer after working on a couple of motorbikes in using torque settings rather than

Tighten then tighten again until you've Snapped the bolt [-X [-X [-X :?

Tighten then tighten again until you've Filled ya pants [-X [-X [-X

Cheers
Steve

Note: Front calliper different to rear according to manual

(Front)
Calliper
84/93N-m (8.5/9.5kgf.m) = 62/68.5 ft.lb

(Rear)
Calliper
38/49N-m (3.8/5.0kgf.m) = 28/36 ft.lb

Wheel nuts Conversion for wheels subject to Ritas comments

12/15 kg.m = 9/11 ft.lb NOTE: this should be
12/15 kg.m = 87/108.5 ft.lb

That don't look right does it? Back to the books

Checked, and YES, Rita is right. =D> =D> Stand corrected. As the man said, 2 outa 3 aint bad

the 12/15 kg.m = 9/11 ft.lb
should be
12/15 kg.m = 87/108.5 ft.lb
Is the 12/15 figure quoted in the manual for steel wheels?
