Tyre pressure confusion

Post by bobnpat98 » Sun Mar 07, 2010 6:10 pm

Bought Bongo with alloys fitted but am a little confused about tyre pressures as the boots are not listed in the owners handbook.
fronts are - 225/40ZR18 92W
rears are - 265/35ZR118 97W XL

Any help would be appreciated as scouring the web has only added to the confusion. :?

Unfamiliar rear size to me but with 18" RX8s shod with 225/45s on all corners, mine was best at 40 all round.

You'll probably get a dozen different answers on here too, no two Bongos appear to be the same.

Basically it's a case of try different pressures until you find what's best :? I also use 40psi in my 225/50x17s. Incidentally, your tyres are nearly 3% smaller than the standard tyres, so your speedo will be reading quicker than you are actually going
Interested to hear how those "drag-racing" rears affect the handling

Hi John

Yeah I realise the potential 'problem' with the tyre size but 3% makes little or no difference unles I could get up into the big numbers.

As I have not driven my Bongo on anything but these boots I could not say whether the handling is good or bad but on my limited mileage and also pulling a caravan on the back handling is not a problem due to the lower speeds. :)
