Cam belt V6
Hi again folks. Well I took the plunge & went for a V6 over the diesel.
I was wanting to get the cam belt changed as even though the camper was initially bought from Manchester campers, there is no sticker or proof that the cam belt has been changed.
My Q is, are they easy to get hold of? I've seen them advertised on ebay for the diesel but not the petrol, or does the same belt fit either? Excuse my ignorance!!!

Re: Cam belt V6
The lad I bought it from had phoned them & they told him that a sticker would have been placed with mileage on it at which it was done.
I did think that they would have changed it as they serviced it before they sold it but unfortunately there seems to be no proof of this.

Re: Cam belt V6
Cam belt isn't a standard service item, different on a V6 to a diesel, I think Ian sells them in the club shop. This may help - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... lt#p384042

Re: Cam belt V6
Thanks Kirsty.
I have been quoted for the work by my usual mechanic. He had a bongo in last week when I phoned him & was doing the cam belt on it then. I didn't ask him if it was a diesel though. I'll have to ring him in the morning to let him know it's a V6, so that's why I was asking if it was the same belt or are the belts for the V6 easy to come by?

Re: Cam belt V6
Congrats on getting the Bongo BTW

Re: Cam belt V6
I don't think this has been said yet on this post but excuse me if it has. The V6 cambelt is around 36" long and takes 2-3 hours to fit. The diesel is a doddle in comparison. Cheffy and Apole will probably find you the cheapest belt. Goodluck.um bongo um bongo wrote:Nice one.

Spoke with the garage this morning to let him know. I've left it to him to source the parts but I'll bear it in mind to come on here first next time to check when I need any work doing on it.
It's booked in for next Tues, so hopefull come next Wednesday I'll be driving down to the Alps for some serious R&R!!
Thanks again folks & lets hope this is the start of a grand love affair with "Ali" Bongo!!
