We mentioned the pipe on the rad a couple of years ago. It's not on the standard rad but is found on some of the replacements. The pipe will let coolant out, so needs to be blanked. If your epoxy doesn't do the trick, you could use a jubilee clip to fix a short piece of hose to the pipe, then blank the other end of the hose with a bolt and another jubilee clip.

Yes, I've a niggly feeling that for another owner (was it vanvliet - I honestly can't remember) using epoxy putty didn't do the trick, but taking the advice above did.

Just had a new rad fitted recently and was concerned that was we were losing coolant and temp was going up when van was going over 80 on the motorway . . .
Turned out it was this pipe so had it blanked now . .
As usual bongo forum to the rescue!

I was reading your other thread and thinking exactly that. Slight pity the garage didn't think to ask what it was for when they fitted the rad., but as long as no damage has been done etc.

Fit a low coolant alarm for safety maybe? Mason alarm too perhaps?

Yes, but the proper radiator doesn't have the extra pipe, so it is effectively sealed by any cap.
