Hi,
‘fraid I’ve not been on here for a while, so I missed the survey.... .
But, today I became a statistic!
02, petrol V6, owned for 3 years, 80k, dropped coolant today.............
Fortunately, it was only on a short run, I saw the temp gauge go up, over to the 2 o'clock position. Stopped and popped the bonnet, very low in the reservoir, opened the cap. A bit of a gurgle and some coolant flowed back in to the tank. Gauge went back to normal and did the couple of miles home, only to find a puddle where I had been parked. (I had run it for a couple of minutes before setting off as I had not used it for about a week) On inspection I found a drip from rearmost rubber hose for the rear heater (I presume...) about half way down on the van on the drivers side.
I am fairly technically minded, so could probably tackle a bit of DIY, although I don’t have a hose for flushing.....
Any ideas and advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Ian

Re: Coolant leak (V6)
Is it the hose listed as Z on this diagram - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html It's the same diagram for all 3 bongo engine versions, just substitute the correct connection from the options Z & Y.
Click on the left hand side descriptions to tie in with the diagram part numbers.
It's one of the most common hoses to go on the diesel, intersting it's gone on yours, is it just a connection needs cleaning up, hose got a hole/swelling due to age or is it due to abrading over the starter motor?
Easy enough to replace, check all the other hoses too, then refill & bleed as per the instructions in the members area factsheet I think.

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Coolant leak (V6)
Hi there,
Had the same leak on my V6 a while back.
You need to find out if it's the rubber hose of the metal pipework to the rear heater matrix.
For me I just "bridged" the rear heater matrix out using the better of the two hoses, you have to cut it down a bit and use new jubilee clips followed by a proper bleed.
You can reduce the coolant loss by gently compressing the hoses using a clamp or mole grip during the work.
Check out all the other pipes carefully and if you haven't done so for a while change the coolant whilst you are at it.
Good luck, consider a hayden low coolant alarm to spot this earlier in the future, worthwhile investment.

Re: Coolant leak (V6)
Thanks for the advice guys. I might try and get the van to A&S in Caerphilly to see if they can help me out.....
