V6 difficult to start

Post by belsbus » Fri Feb 19, 2010 9:25 am

Hello all!

My gorgeous gas guzzling V6 has suddenly become difficult to start. No problems throughout all those -6 degree mornings, but last few it has taken nearly 10 attempts, swearing and a little tyre kicking to wake it up

Has anyone got any ideas about how I can put this right?

Many thanks

Just might need a bit of TLC with a service ,fuel filter, oil filter, jets cleaned , spark plugs ,that kinda stuff.
Lost without my Bongo.

Hi there,

Agreed, start with the normal service stuff.

Then check HT side, are the leads tight fitting, in good condition, what is the disty cap and rotor arm like, and are they wet? Don't forget the carbon finger in the cap wears out in time.

Check the petrol side as well, is your filter getting blocked (often overlooked in servicing).

Take it one step at a time and hopefully something will turn up.

Regards
