manual heater controls removal.....

Post by Gaza69 » Sat Feb 20, 2010 1:26 am

Hey guys, having a bit of a problem.

Have any of you got the manual heater controls fitted on your dash? mine have some leds that need cleaning / replacing as they have stooped lighting up. i put 2 stereo remover wires in the holes to unlock the clips but the thing will only pull out about 2cm, i dont know whats holding it in place and i dont want to break anything....Do all the controls come out ir is it like a facia. Its really irritating not knowing what temp its at and where its being blown at night.....

Cheers all

Hi
Look under the dash, in the centre...find the heater, and remove the cables from the controls....BOTH sides. Heater controls will then pull out.
Cheers

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.

don't forget the cable that controls the flap under the bonnet too.......
And use the radio removal keys......... what I did too.....I removed glovebox (open it and tease away so the stop lugs are free this allows it to come out) so that I could ease the controls forward a little to help the radio keys.......
I found that there are 3 bulbs.....2 display and 1 for the heater knob.....they are T5 minature bayonet push in types.
just a twist and pull for the bulb holder then pull out the bulb....replace in reverse........
I got my bulbs.....(bosch brand)...... from a motor factor........ £1.79 for 10 inc vat..... and I decided while there to replace all 3....... the bulbs are awkward to access if like me your fingers are fat like sausages but if you have some long nose pliers or an assistant with small hands they can do the twist and pull bit for you....

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
