Is my coolant level too high?

Post by pjbowers058 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 7:05 pm

Hi, Guys I had my system flushed and coolant changed and system bled by a recognised garage, Ive just checked the level with a lolipop stick and it is showing about 3 - 3.5 cm of coolant, I know the full mark is at 2 cm, I obviously have a little too much coolant in, will this cause any damage? do I need to remove some to get it exactly on the full level or am I ok just leaving it?

Cheers Paul. :| :| :| :|

Won't cause any damage, you'll probably find it'll sort the level out itself, but it may scare you if it squirts steamy coolant out the overflow pipe on the header tank.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

I would keep an eye it, it could be they have over filled it but it could also mean air is pushing coolant back up through the expansion tank, just keep an eye it and measure it in the morning when its cold to see how much or if its drops

That amount extra will not be a problem.
