Warped exhaust manifold cheap fix

Post by thedogsbollox » Fri Feb 12, 2010 5:36 pm

I bought a second hand exhaust manifold and when my mechanic went to fit it he found it more bannana shaped than the one i had on there. As the original gasket was fairly new(6 weeks) he removed one of the metal pieces that go around the exhaust port, there are a couple of layers of these on a gasket. He attached this to my new gasket, on the no1 port, with a bit of what he called exhaust liquid gasket. This was enough to shim it to the correct thickness to take up the gap. It is now sealed up like a ducks poophole.
