Hi
Further to my recent post about my heaters not working - I have been told that my heater matrix is clogged. Couldn't find anything on the forum about how much I should be looking at to get this sorted...anyone any ideas?

Re: Heater Matrix V6
It's a part of the coolant system, if you don't get it sorted, worst case scenario is an engine overheat. Personally I'd get it sorted, at the very least bypass it for now & make sure the coolant is bled properly.

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Hi there,
If it is clogged then chances are so are other parts of your cooling system, including the radiator. I'd get it checked out by a bongo specialist to be sure of where you stand. Does the rear heater work okay, how does the header tank look, what colour is the water in there?

I see the original question has changed since I answered it
I'd allow a max of a couple of hours labour to replace the matrix plus whatever the matrix costs, I guess that depends whether you go for new or used. Check out the bongo parts suppliers - bongobits, Allans, etc, or even your local mazda dealer may be able to sort you out. As for cost, if you're getting someone to do it, have a llok on the recommended garages list for one near to you & give them a ring & see, it's a bit of a how long's a piece of string question.
