What Battery

Post by izwyz » Sun Jan 24, 2010 6:58 pm

Hi,

Anyone know the model numbers of the (twin) batteries that should be fitted to a '98 bongo. And should they match??

Cheers

You really don't need the twin battery set up in this country, it's for extrememly cold starts, I'd just get the biggest battery you can as a starter battery & maybe put a leisure battery & split charge kit in the the passenger side one if you do any camping, if not I wouldn't bother with it.

068 or Yuasa 030 is what your looking for .......or if you take up the suggestion that Kirsty says of a single battery.....068 or Yuasa 030 - for a bit more grunt if you think you need it..... 249 or Yuasa 335.....

My usual battery stockist persuaded me to fit a Bosch S4 028 Silver.

95AH capacity 830A cranking current.

Fits the Bongo tray and has terminals the right size and in the right places.

Not significantly more expensive than an off the shelf 068 of unheard of parentage.

Googling Bosch S4 came up with:
"Advantages of the Bosch-Battery S4. 15% higher than standard car-batteries; 20% higher service life thanks to innovative PowerFrame technology ..."

Had it about a year now, replacing the original Japanese battery.
