oohps my radio has stopeed working

Post by mobilecat » Mon Jan 18, 2010 8:27 pm

My radio was working fine this morning but on the afternoon school run it wouldn't come on. It is connected to the main battery and has never had an issue before. Could it be a fuse? If it is a fuse, where do I find it and which one will it be. Thanks everyone.

cath if wired straight to the battery it should have a inline fuse along the wire from live to stereo failing that most stereo's have a fuse at the back of it

what make is it ????

Stupid question - will I need to remove it to check that or is it accesible round the back/side etc. I can't remember what make it is - Mike put it in for me when I bought it- I will look in the morning :)

you will have to pull the stereo out to check the back of the stereo

best bet would be to contact mike if he fitted it for you

Fuse list in the facsheets in the members area - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... usebox.pdf - fuse 8 for stereo, mirrors & ciggy lighter.

Thanks Kirsty - although I think its one of the things I never got round to renewing :) (oohps). I am guessing however if fuse 8 does the radio and the ciggy lighter then I need to test the lighter tomorrow - because if its working, it isn't the fuse :)

Could be a fuse. Alternatively it's simply "stopped working".

It can happen!

I've had a lifelong love affair with radios and sooner or later most of them stop working, usually for reasons inside the box.

If it lights up etc. but makes no sound it's not the fuse.

If you have a removable panel on the front of the radio, check that's not come adrift..?
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Mine stopped yesterday. Got the radio manual out this morning to check where the fuse was. Manual shows it to be located on the back of the radio faceplate, so I took this off and .....................no fuse as per manual. Instead of the fuse, on the carcass fixed bit in the cubby, there was a 'reset' button - one of those things you press with something pointed (pencil).
So I pressed this and :D it came on.
Took all of 20 seconds :D

Well my radio is a Clarion one, it is definitely dead, as the 12v plug works fine so its not a fuse.

Time is short and so am I, so meet my new pimp;
